Rocinha, listen to the children. And Jardim Catarina as well! Bulletin No. 3 published

In this third project bulletin of the project Safe, Inclusive and Participatory Early Childhood Education, we discuss the importance of early childhood education, the rights to early childhood education set out in Brazilian law and the major role creches and pre-schools play in children´s lives.

The parent project is coordinated by the Moray House School of Education and Sport at the University of Edinburgh and in Brazil by Professor Irene Rizzini of CIESPI/PUC-Rio. The goals of the project are to study and contribute to debates and actions on the education of children and their families in the two low-income communities of Rocinha and Jardim Catarina in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The project aims to develop partnerships in these communities and their municipalities to promote early childhood education on the principles of inclusion and participation.
