This new CIESPI bulletin, the result of a partnership with the University of Edinburgh and several Indian colleague organizations, is titled, Shaping Youth Futures: Youth Livelihood Options in Creating Inclusive Cities.
Coordinated internationally by Sukanya Krishnamurthy (University of Edinburgh) and in Brazil by Irene Rizzini (CIESPI at PUC-Rio), the project aimed to stimulate the participation and protagonism of young people in the construction, implementation, and monitoring of public policies aimed at promoting youth entry into the workforce.
The bulletin describes the Brazilian part of the project and the partnership between CIESPI and the Youth Forum of South Fluminense between 2020 and 2022 when young people from the Forum interviewed public officials, private and public sector employers and youth about how to promote young people’s entry into the workforce. The Forum, a long time CIESPI partner, is located in the industrial city of Volta Redonda in the state of Rio de Janeiro and takes action and trains youth on public policies affecting them and engages in debate in various public arenas.
The bulletin summarizes the research and includes recommendations for promoting youth employment.
