CIESPI is pleased to be operating in a number of ways on our project Youth and Climate Change. We were privileged to attend the world climate meeting COP30 in Belem which was attended by national, state, and local government officials, climate activists, and climate experts and had event and discussion spaces for non-profits like ourselves. Our focus was strengthening the discussion on climate change and the rights of children and young people. CIESPI staff took part in the roundtable discussion `Amazonian Youth for the Climate` which occurred in the Non-Profit Hall the home for the events of the Brazilian Association of Non-Profits (ABONG). In attendance there were young activists, researchers, and representatives of youth movements. Our staff also took part in the Children´s Dome organized by the Federal University of Pará as part of the Program Dome of the People. COP 30 broke new ground among COPs for the intense participation of the non-profit sector and ordinary citizens.

More information on these activities can be found here.
In our home city of Rio de Janerio CIESPI organized the event Ýoung people for the climate, general communication and climate justice in the periphery ‘at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, CIESPI´s home base. This event brought together students, communicators and activists in a series of roundtable discussion on territories, youth and climate change.
All of these activities were based on CIESPI´s major recent research report Young people and climate change in Brazil, itself part of the project Youth For Climate Justice in Brazil.
