Between June 28 and 30, director of CIESPI/PUC-Rio, Prof. Irene Rizzini, and Jana Tabak, a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of International Relations at PUC-Rio, participated in the conference "Children in a World of Opportunities: Innovations in Research, Policy and Practice”, organized by the International Society for Child Indicators (ISCI) in Montreal, Canada. Throughout the meeting, the researchers had the opportunity to discuss methodologies focused on identifying indicators that aim to both impact policies and to contribute to the promotion of child well-being.
Prof. Irene Rizzini joined the panel "Monitoring children's participation in child protection", whose objective was to discuss the results of the first phase of the project led by the International and Canadian Child Rights Partnership (ICCRP) on monitoring participation of children and young people in child protection contexts, under the coordination of prof. Tara Collins (Ryerson University, Canada). The Brazilian team discussed the trends identified in the academic literature produced in Latin America on child and youth participation. In the next phase of the project, the researchers will focus on a case study, which aims to explore the participation of adolescents in the State Council for the Defense of Children and Adolescents in Rio de Janeiro.
